Mass. to continue student-health screenings

The Massachusetts Public Health Council has voted to continue weight and height screenings for students, but the council will eliminate the practice of automatically sending letters home to parents about the findings. The information now will be available to parents and guardians if a written request is provided. The letters -- once sent home in students' backpacks -- drew criticism after they were inadvertently disclosed to students.
