Report: Russian pharma spending to rise

Pharmaceutical sales in Russia are estimated to hit $24.29 billion in 2013, up from $22.22 billion the previous year, according to a report from Business Monitor International that predicts a significant uptick in health care spending. The report also forecasts that health expenditures will reach $130.40 billion, up from $118.16 billion in 2012. Among the chief growth drivers: increased government spending, an aging population, introduction of universal health insurance and entry into the World Trade Organization, which should improve intellectual property protection.
