SCPA: Rail service, inland port to transform S.C. logistics network

Norfolk Southern service between a new inland port in Greer, S.C., and the Port of Charleston will be an important part of the state's supply chain system, according to the South Carolina Ports Authority. "In the long term, the inland port will be a catalyst for redefining how distribution is done in South Carolina and surrounding areas," said SCPA President and CEO Jim Newsome. "We have to focus on innovative solutions to logistics challenges. I think we'll look back on this as an extremely good investment."
