Illinois Board Of Education May Require Teachers To Prove Their Worth

The Illinois State Board of Education today will begin reviewing a proposal to require teachers with temporary licenses to create portfolios to demonstrate qualifications. The portfolios could include lesson plans, student work and videotaped classroom teaching. The Illinois Federation of Teachers, the state's largest teachers union, objects to the proposal.
