Michigan districts worry about laptop program's hidden costs

At least eight school districts are getting cold feet about the state's $39 million Freedom to Learn initiative, which could give a laptop to every K-12 student. Districts are concerned the legislation establishing the program did not cover infrastructure upgrades and maintenance costs sufficiently.
