Roche donating Tamiflu to Turkey, Romania

Swiss drugmaker Roche said it will donate more than 22,000 packs of Tamiflu to Turkey and Romania, where the presence of the H5N1 strain of avian flu has been confirmed. Meanwhile, doctors in Vietnam reported one girl with avian flu proved to be resistant to Tamiflu, showing the need for research into other possible flu drugs. In the U.S., however, a consumer group urged the government to allow generic versions of drugs such as Tamiflu to help prepare for a potential pandemic.
