Bernanke calls for less onerous regulation of banking

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke suggested that regulators need to find a way to ease the burdens that oversight places on financial institutions. "Deterring and identifying misuse of the financial system, as important as that is, should not be so onerous that it stifles innovation ... or reduces the international competitiveness of U.S. banks," Bernanke told a gathering of banking executives.
