Januvia gets expanded FDA approval

Merck & Co.'s diabetes drug Januvia has obtained regulatory approval for use in combination with the drug metformin and with the class of drugs called sulfonylureas. Merck also added warning labels about reports of allergic reactions to Januvia, which will be allowed as initial therapy in combination with metformin, as an add-on to sulfonylureas and as an add-on to a combination of both a sulfonylurea and metformin.
