More employees accept furloughs at United

United Airlines says more than 300 unionized machinists have agreed to take voluntary furloughs, joining some 1,500 flight attendants and 200 pilots who have accepted the offer. The voluntary reductions will cut the number of layoffs needed to meet the airline's goal of cutting 7,000 positions by the end of 2009.
