Feds want to repair La. levees, floodwalls for NFIP certification

The Army Corps of Engineers has announced a plan to reinforce deficient sections of levees and floodwalls along the Industrial Canal and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in Louisiana to make the structures meet engineering and safety standards required to get certification under the National Flood Insurance Program. The agency intends to hold public meetings to explain proposed methods in their remediation plan.
