Dooley: Industry supports smart, reasonable risk-assessment methods

The Environmental Protection Agency should update the way it assesses and regulates chemicals, but it should do so by prioritizing chemicals for further review based on existing hazard and use data, writes Cal Dooley, president and CEO of the American Chemistry Council. "Setting priorities can ensure government and industry will not waste time and resources gathering information on chemicals that are already well understood or evaluating chemicals that do not pose a significant risk to public health or the environment," he writes.
