Medicare includes alcohol, depression screening in covered services

The CMS has announced that Medicare will begin paying for the annual screenings for alcohol misuse and depression, with no additional costs to beneficiaries. The agency has released a separate coverage determination for depression, while those who were positive for alcohol misuse will receive coverage for up to four short, face-to-face behavioral counseling sessions.
