Poll looks at views on coverage for child weight-loss programs

A U.S. survey found 81% of respondents said that private insurers should provide coverage for bariatric surgery for adolescents, while only 55% believe that Medicaid should cover the surgery. Researchers also found that 84% of respondents endorsed coverage for adolescent visits to dietitians, while 60% and 65% approved of coverage for weight-loss and exercise programs respectively. The results were presented at the Obesity Society meeting.
