Survey: Smartphone users shy away from video apps

The average smartphone user devoted 6.9 minutes a day to watching video content in August, compared with 25.8 minutes for games and 18.1 minutes for social networking, according to an NPD Group survey. Still, that figure represented an 86% increase from a year ago. "We expect [video app] usage to increase in step with 4G networks and devices, better form factors (larger screens), and more compelling apps," NPD analyst Linda Barrabee said in a blog post.
