Bill sponsors seek path forward on energy-efficiency bill after government reopens

With the U.S. government again operational, sponsors of the Shaheen-Portman energy-efficiency bill are working to advance the measure. "I think we have a strategy now to move it forward, allowing people to offer amendments but also getting more commitments from members who support the bill and also have improvements through their amendments," said Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio. The establishment of a conference committee to work on a long-term budget deal may be a forum to advance the bill, Nick Juliano notes.
