China makes more chips for its own consumption

With Intel, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix investing in wafer fabrication facilities in China, the country will produce 31.9% of the semiconductors its electronics industry will consume this year, according to The Information Network. "By 2015, more than a third of China's IC needs will be met internally," said Robert Castellano, president of the market research firm.
