Flood of VC dollars is helping fuel cybersecurity innovation

Investors are pumping billions of dollars into the cybersecurity sector, hoping to reap the rewards of increasing attentiveness to network protection, analysts say. According to Bob Ackerman, founder and managing director of Allegis Capital, the number of cybersecurity startups in the U.S. has surged as venture capitalists have turned their attention to emerging solutions such as mobile application security and online authentication. Meanwhile, a spate of M&A activity and an increase in high-profile IPOs are proof of investor confidence in the long-term viability of the sector.
