Furniture sales fuel UK retail sales jump in Sept.

UK retail sales rose a higher-than-expected 0.6% in September compared to the month before, a 2.2% year-over-year increase fueled largely by sales of home furnishings amid a rebound in Britain's housing market, according to the Office for National Statistics. Food sales fell for the second consecutive month, the report said, and inflation rose 0.9% following a 1.6% rise in August.
