German think tanks project extended string of budget surpluses

Leading economic institutes are urging the German government to spend the funds from an expected third year of budget surpluses in 2014. The extra funds are projected to reduce Germany's debt as a percentage of gross domestic product to near the widely violated ceiling of 60% set for the 17 eurozone member states. Further surpluses are forecast through 2018.
