Ore., Wash. seek funding to spread new technologies in manufacturing

Two "regional innovative manufacturing facilities," one each in Oregon and Washington state, are the objective of seven universities in the region that have applied for federal funding. One of the facilities planned by the University of Washington would focus on wider manufacturing usage of carbon composites, making it practical for smaller companies to incorporate the light, strong material in their products.
