Research: W.Va. district's wellness initiatives help curb obesity

Research shows that Ohio county schools in Wheeling, W. Va., are making gains in their efforts to curb childhood obesity. Efforts include focusing more on school-breakfast service, scheduling time for students to meet with wellness coaches and working with parents to help them understand the importance of healthy eating. The district also has launched breakfast-in-the-classroom programs and second-chance breakfasts, that have led to increases in that meal's service.
