Sidewalk art lesson reinforces math skills in Calif. school

Educators at a California elementary school are working together to teach core subjects in some unlikely combinations. In a recent lesson, fourth-graders created chalk in art class and then used it to illustrate mathematical concepts on the sidewalk. "When I collaborate with the classroom teachers, it helps the students apply the concepts that they've been learning and practicing in a unique, creative setting," art teacher Carol Carver said.
