Study: Word-of-mouth, calling lead in hotel bookings

According to a new study, word-of-mouth recommendations drive about 44% of hotel business. Calling hotels directly to book makes up half of a hotel's business, while online booking represents 21% of business. TripAdvisor listings are driving double the business as opposed to listings not using the popular travel review website.
