U.S. lifts debt ceiling, but only until February

The U.S. debt ceiling was lifted and the partial government shutdown ended as both houses of Congress voted by wide margins to do so Wednesday night and President Barack Obama signed the bill into law. However, the government funding lasts only until Jan. 15, and the debt-ceiling debate must be revisited before a Feb. 7 deadline.
