DEP grant to help cheese plant turn green

Joining several other businesses in its area, Fairview Swiss Cheese will be going green as part of a $5.1 million program. The cheese producer will construct an anaerobic digester, which converts waste from pretreated cheese whey and wastewater into biogas that will run a cheese plant generator, replace 2,000 to 3,000 gallons fuel oil a week and in turn, reduce air pollution.
