FAA issues proposed airworthiness directive

The FAA is advising airlines to inspect cockpit windows on Boeing 737s after two were damaged in flight, causing one plane to lose cabin pressure. The directive is similar to another issued in July after a cockpit window fell out, prompting an emergency landing. There are nearly 800 737-series planes in the U.S. fleet, plus 1,800 planes flown by foreign airlines that would qualify for the directed inspections.
