For hiking enthusiasts tempted by the scenery of the Appalachian Trail, but unenthusiastic about carrying all their gear with them, the Presidential Range presents a perfect alternative. The gorgeous, twisting 56-mile stretch through New Hampshire features mountaintop huts. "What people like about hiking the huts is you don't need to carry a tent, stove, or cookware. And you get to enjoy some of the most scenic mountains on the Appalachian Trail," said Rob Burbank of the Appalachian Mountain Club, which manages the huts.
