SEC opens probe of Countrywide CEO

The Securities and Exchange Commission has opened an informal investigation that looks at stock sales by Countrywide Financial Corp. Chief Executive Officer Angelo Mozilo. It is not clear what the SEC is specifically looking at, but observers speculated the regulatory agency will look at stock sales through the company's executive sales plans. The investigation is looking at about a dozen companies with links to rising defaults on home loans.
