Japanese retailer Muji sees opportunity in China

Masaaki Kanai, CEO at Ryohin Keikaku, which owns the clothing and household-goods retailer Muji, said the company plans to bolster the number of Muji stores in China to 30 by the end of 2010. "China offers us an opportunity for relatively high profitability, and the pace of our new store opening is likely to start outpacing our home operations in Japan soon," Kanai said.
