Regulations force chemical firms to improve water management

Increased regulations to address security and environmental concerns have created opportunities as well as challenges for chemical companies to improve their water- and wastewater-treatment systems. Chemical companies, however, are not expected to invest heavily in treatment technologies because of the declining market. The American Chemistry Council said it expects U.S. chemical output to drop by 8.7% this year.
