DOT loan puts Los Angeles light-rail expansion on track

Los Angeles has secured a $546 million loan from the U.S. Department of Transportation to build part of the city's light-rail system. The 8.5-mile, $1.4 billion line is planned to run from the Crenshaw district to the international airport. The project is expected to create some 5,000 jobs.
