Sharing patient safety information improves care at Mich. hospitals

The Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative program that promotes the sharing of ideas and practices on patient safety has reduced surgical complications in 16 participating state hospitals by about 10%, according to a study. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan pays the hospitals for their participation and also shoulders the program's technology expenses.
