Trade group: U.S. petroleum demand indicator of improving economy

Growth in petroleum demand reflects modest improvement in the country's economy in September, according to the American Petroleum Institute. API cited an increase in total product deliveries, which is the measurement of demand, from comparable 2009 periods. "The good news is that we're moving toward economic recovery as reflected in petroleum demand, but we should not celebrate yet," said John Felmy, API's chief economist.
