Analysis: Businesses to benefit from wireless-billing guidelines

U.S. mobile-phone carriers will pre-notify subscribers if they are running up a large bill, according to new guidelines intended to offer protection to businesses as they see more personal devices in the workplace, Wayne Rash writes. Bring-your-own-device policies mean enterprises are finding themselves financially responsible for their workers' cellphone bills, either directly or through reimbursement; eliminating "bill shock" will give accounting departments more control over employee expenditures, Rash writes.
