Experts ID urinary marker for diabetes-related mortality

A study in Diabetes Care found that patients with type 2 diabetes who had significantly high levels of urinary excretion of 8-oxoGuo, an RNA oxidation marker, were at greater risk of all-cause and diabetes-related mortality compared with those with low levels. Researchers said urinary excretion of the biomarker can help predict long-term mortality in diabetes patients.
