How to improve the public's perception of teachers

A recent discussion among past and present state Teachers of the Year led them to consider several ways in which teachers can help change public perception of the profession. Among their suggestions is for teachers to become advocates for their schools, use social media and other online tools to inform the community, work with reporters to help them identify good-news stories in schools and take the lead on creating quality accountability measurements.
