Putnam exec: Advisers are close to "cracking" retirement savings code

Giving more Americans access to retirement plans, allocating the money in those plans more wisely and making enrollment automatic are three keys to preparing workers for retirement, said Bob Reynolds, president and CEO of Putnam Investments. "We're close to cracking the code" on retirement preparation, he said. Putnam's research shows that, coupled with Social Security, deferring 10% or more of income can provide enough money for retirement, Reynolds said.
