Wireless carrier and corporate marketing executives got behind the fledgling mobile-payment business at CTIA MobileCON's opening keynote on Thursday but could not exactly pinpoint when it would take hold among consumers. "The mobile phone has taken over so much, but it hasn't taken over your wallet. It's a tremendous opportunity to make it happen but we've got to make it incredibly simple," said Michael Abbot, the CEO of Isis, the mobile-wallet venture backed by Verizon Wireless, AT&T and T-Mobile US. Verizon executives told a reporter the carrier was preparing to roll out Isis nationally "later this year" but declined to be more specific.
