Diet and metformin curb heart risk in type 2 diabetes, study finds

A study in Diabetes Care revealed diet-only intervention and metformin treatment were associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular conditions in type 2 diabetes patients compared with insulin monotherapy. Researchers also found that no other diabetes medication either taken alone or in combination with other treatments helped reduce the risk of cardiovascular events compared with insulin alone.
