Effective recruiting has much in common with the sales process, writes Fletcher Wimbush. To find a top-notch employee, you'll need to start with a large group of candidates, reach out to a large portion of them and ask insightful questions. "To find a diamond-in-the-rough candidate, you need 200 to 300 potentials," he writes. "Of these, you need to speak with 20 percent to 30 percent."
