Study: Retailers need mobile to complement loyalty programs

Loyalty programs can benefit greatly if retailers provide a user-friendly mobile option for shoppers who are increasingly "showrooming" with their devices, according to a report by Acquity Group. Much of the potential value of a loyalty program is lost without mobile, the report concludes. "The study findings demonstrate that while loyalty is important, other factors such as offering price savings upfront outside of a loyalty program and a convenient shopping experience have become more important for consumers," said Acquity Group's Chip Knicker.
