U.S. added 148,000 jobs in September as August gains revised upward

The U.S. saw an increase of 148,000 jobs in September, according to the Department of Labor, though the increase was less than expected by economists polled by MarketWatch and Reuters. The unemployment rate in September declined from 7.3% to 7.2%, and August job gains were revised up 24,000 to 193,000. However, July gains were restated at 89,000, down from 104,000.
