Verizon preps LTE network for 2014 4G voice rollout

Verizon Wireless has turned its focus to boosting its Long-Term Evolution coverage in top markets, having already begun putting its Advanced Wireless Spectrum frequencies to work in New York City, Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo said Thursday, noting that broad coverage is critical to the introduction of Voice Over LTE, which is expected in 2014 for Verizon. Shammo also announced the carrier had ended its joint venture with three cable companies that was intended to provide integrated services via wireless, cable broadband and TV services and said a shortage of iPhone 5S models had undercut its smartphone projections for the third quarter.
