Why more women entrepreneurs would help the Canadian economy

Just 15.6% of the small- and medium-size companies in Canada were owned by women in 2011, according to a study. That's up from 13.7% in 2004, but there is still plenty of room for progress. "The relatively low share of majority female-owned firms suggests female entrepreneurs represent an untapped resource of growth potential," said Laura Cooper, an economist with the Royal Bank of Canada.
