Canadian History Teachers Favor Federal Involvement With Curriculum

Six of 10 Canadian history teachers say the federal government should play a role in developing national standards for history education, according to a poll conducted by The Globe and Mail and the Dominion Institute. The survey also shows that nine of 10 history teachers agree students should learn the same body of historical facts. Curriculum development currently is a provincial responsibility in Canada.
