Microsoft's New License Policy Draws Criticism

Microsoft is rolling out a new licensing program for large-volume customers -- such as schools -- that would encourage clients to purchase long-term agreements to receive software upgrades upon release. School administrators worry the program will cost much more and speculate the life cycle for software at schools probably is longer than for businesses.
