Utah Lawmaker Says State Education System Moving Toward Socialism

Utah lawmaker David Cox on Oct. 17 accused the state of "socializing" its education system by mandating a core curriculum, thus wresting control of local curricula from teachers and communities. Cox also lobbied for the abolition of the state's list of approved textbooks, saying local districts are more in tune with students' needs.
