Feds OKs storm relief aid to religious schools

The Bush administration yesterday said religious schools and certain other private, nonprofit organizations could receive federal loans and grants for the reconstruction of buildings damaged by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Although one observer thinks the government's three-year-old decision to grant disaster aid to religious schools is on shaky constitutional grounds, the policy change has never been challenged in court.
