Amazon's IT chief leaves behind legacy of invention

Rick Dalzell, the IT wizard who oversaw the construction of Amazon.com's e-commerce site and personalization infrastructure, will retire by the end of the year, reports CIO. Dalzell has left his mark in an IT megastructure so large it supports sales of $10.7 billion, more than 69 million customer accounts and 1.1 million third-party sellers.
