Single European sky could lower emissions

The EU has been talking about creating a "single European sky" by eliminating unneeded civilian air-traffic centers and opening up some restricted airspace. The changes could allow airlines to fly less convoluted paths, lowering costs and emissions. The effort is being hampered by individual nations unwilling to give up control.
